Development of Internet Access Applications

Workpackage 6

In this workpackage, Internet applications for AAC users have been developed, based on the components developed in WP2, WP3 and WP5.
The applications - e.g. a web browser and an e-mail program - form a suite of programs that integrates the new functional components of this project with other assistive components (e.g. for alternative input methods for severely motor impaired). The result is a very supportive Internet Access Pack for language impaired users, with a very simplistic and configurable user interface.
To construct these software applications, we also needed standard Internet software components (widely available), symbol databases and display components (provided by the commercial partners).

The beta version of the software has given the user panel the chance to give feedback in issues that needed to be improved, solved or otherwise could raise the quality of the applications.
The leader of the WP, Handicom, a commercial partner, is a major stakeholder to commercialise the results of this WP. These Internet Access Applications will be marketed as soon as possible.
